Robert Grubb wurde am 31. Januar 1950 in Hobart, Tasmanien geboren, er hat deutsche und englische Vorfahren. Seine Eltern hatten mit der Schauspielerei nichts zu tun. Robert Grubb ist mit der Tänzerin Robyn Silver verheiratet. Sie haben 2 Söhne, Emerson wurde 1982 geboren und Hayden 1985. Robert ist ein Familienmensch und lebt mit seiner Familie in Melbourne. Robert wurde zunächst Elektriker und kam erst mit 26 Jahren auf die Idee Schauspieler zu werden. Als er mit seinem Studium am National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) fertig war, konzentrierte er sich zunächst voll aufs Theater und war am South Australian Theatre engagiert.

Er spielte die verschiedensten Rollen und machte sich auch als Sänger einen Namen, da er eine gute Stimme hat. Unter anderem trat er als Sänger in “Figaros Hochzeit”, der “3 Groschen-Oper”, “Pal Joey” (Musical) und vielen anderen bei uns weniger bekannten Stücken auf. Auch als Shakespeare-Darsteller hatte er viele Bühnenerfolge. Auch in Filmen war er gefragt. So spielte er in dem Film “Gallipoli” mit und in “Mad Max III”, die auch im deutschen Fernsehen zu sehen waren. Ein bedeutender Film war “My brilliant career" (lief in Deutschland unter dem Titel “Meine brillante Karriere”). Er wurde sogar für den AFI Award als bester Schauspieler nominiert. Seine erste Fernsehrolle war in der Serie “Sara Dane”. Es folgten Rollen in “The amorous dentist”, “A Country Practice”, “Learned Friends”, “Five Mile Creek” (hier unter “Australienexpress”), “Special Squad”.

In der Rolle als Dr. Geoff Standish in “Die fliegenden Ärzte” kam er als Snob aus der Stadt. Zuerst lachten alle über ihn und hielten ihn für einen ziemlichen Lack- affen mit seinem Sportwagen. Niemand traute ihm zu, dass er dort im Busch Fuß fassen würde. Aber es hatten sich alle in ihm getäuscht. Nach langem Hin und Her heiratete er Schwester Kate Wellings (Lenore Smith). Mit vielen Kollegen aus den “Flying Docs” ist Robert nach wie vor verbunden. Er findet es auch wunderbar, dass die Serie noch immer überall in der Welt zu sehen ist. Es hat ihm viel Spaß gemacht sie zu drehen und mit den Kollegen zusammen  zu sein.

Auch nach den “Fliegenden Ärzten” ging es für Robert Grubb weiter. Er spielte viel Theater und zum Teil auch zusammen mit einigen alten Kollegen aus der Serie. So spielte er in  “Love Letters”, “Summer of the Aliens”, “Lost in Yonkers”, “Madam Butterfly”, “Sanctuary”, “A flea in her ear” und “Phantom of the Opera”. Robert Grubb war mit dem Musical “Sunset Boulevard” von Andrew Lloyd Webber ebenfalls sehr erfolgreich und er spielte in der komischen Oper “Cinder- ella” mit. Und natürlich spielte er auch wieder in Serien mit. Als Beispiele seien nur genannt: “Blue Heelers”, “G.P.”, “Mercury”, “Phar Lap”, “Robbery under arms”, “State Coroner”, “Skin deep”, “Us and them”, “Tales of the South Seas”, “Seachange”, “Paradise Road” und zuletzt konnte man ihn in der wunderbaren Kinderserie “High Flyers” bewundern. Zum Teil ist Robert auch mit Werbung beschäftigt und macht Synchronisation.

Er war 1998 der Peterson in “Rising Fish Prayer” und 1999 als Ian in “Navi- gating” zu sehen. Zuletzt spielte er 2000 den Anthony im Fernsehfilm “Waiting    at the Royal” und Mr. Emmett in der TV-Miniserie “The Potato Factory”. In “Mr. Edmund” kann man seine hervorragende Singstimme u. a. im Sydneyer Opernhaus hören und bewundern.

Bei ihren Besuchen in Australien hatte Renate 1996, 1998, 2001 Meetings mit Robert. Bei ihrem letzten Besuch in Australien konnte Renate Robert in dem Musical “Mamma Mia” erleben und ihn natürlich auch wieder persönlich treffen. Robert spielte und sang in diesem Musical 2 Jahre die Rolle des Harry Bright.   Er ist einfach geschaffen für die Bühne. Renate hat ihm dies auch gesagt und seine Augen haben geleuchtet. Im Musical hört man die tolle Musik von ABBA.

Von Februar bis April 2002 war Robert als Mr. Crackleton in 12 Folgen der Serie “The Dragon Chronicles” im australischen TV zu sehen. 2003 spielte er den Simon in der Mini-Serie “After the deluge”. Am 07. August 2003 hatte er mit dem Musical “We will rock you” in der Rolle des Hippie Pop Premiere in Mel- bourne. Mit diesem Musical war Robert auch auf großer Tournee durch Japan. Aber natürlich ist er auch weiter im TV präsent. So 2004 als Dect. Sen. Con. Micaelis in “The Brush-Off” und in “Stingers” als Dr. Frank Vellani in der Epi- sode “Total recall”. In “Salem's Lot”, nach Steven King, war er 2004 an der Seite von Rebecca Gibney im US-Fernsehen zu sehen. Mit seinem Sohn Hayden spielte er 2007 zusammen in dem Kurzfilm “Black Button” und war der “Man behind the desk”. Im gleichen Jahr schlüpfte er in eine Doppel-Geisterrolle - sehr über- zeugend stellte er Salty Ben in “Pirate Islands: The lost treasure of Fiji” dar. Percy Spender war Robert im TV-Film “Curtin”, Roger Gyles in der TV-Mini- serie “Bastard Boys”. 2008 war er in “The Window” der Father, in “All Saints” spielte er in einer Gastrolle den Patienten Paul Murray und auch Robert über- nahm in der Serie “McLeod`s Daughters” eine Gastrolle, die des Tim Ayres.

Auch sein Sohn Emerson tritt wohl in seine Fußstapfen. Er ist Sänger in einer Funk&Soul Band. Auch Robert`s Karriere hat so begonnen.

Robert war 2009 als Sänger in “The Musical”, “The boys friends” und auch wieder in “Mamma Mia” zu bewundern. In “Remembering Nigel” war Robert als er selbst zu sehen. “Of land and bounty” heißt der neue Film, in dem sich Robert 2010 als Brendan McCallum vorstellt.

2011 übernahm Robert einen Part in der Theateraufführung “Dons Party”.

In  “The Weatherman” spielt Robert den Meteorologen Tony Turpinson, dem das Ende seiner zwanzigjährigen Fernsehkarriere naht. Im Bestreben sich dem wachsenden Druck der jüngeren, moderneren und lustigeren Wetterkollegen entgegenzustellen, bringt er sich selbst in Schwierigkeiten und erlebt so manchen Fauxpas.

Robert stand im Mai 2012 in der von Yusuf Islam (auch bekannt als Cat Stevens) geschaffene musikalischen Fantasie-Welt “Moonshadow” auf der Bühne. “Moonshadow” ist eine klassische Gut-gegen-Böse Geschichte, über die Reise eines Jungen in die Männlichkeit.

Des weiteren stand er für die TV-Serien “Howzat! Kerry Packer's War” und vor der Kamera.  Im Theater spielte Robert 2012 in dem Stück “Promises, Promises” den Part des Dr. Dreyfuss.

Auf der Theaterbühne steht Robert auch 2013 - in dem Stück “Yes, Prime Minister”, basierend auf einer BBC-Kult-Polit- Satire. Er spielt darin den manipulierenden Sekretär des Premierministers. In der TV-Serie “Reef Doctors” spielte Robert für drei Folgen die Gastrolle des James McCage.

Seit September 2013 steht Robert in dem Stück “A murder is announced” in Sydney auf der Bühne. Er spielt darin die Rolle des Inspektor Craddock. In der TV-Serie “Reef Doctors” war Robert als James McCage zu sehen.

2015 war Robert für seine Rolle in dem Musical “Strictly Ballroom” für die Sydney Theatre Awards nominiert - in der Kategorie: beste Leistung eines Schauspielers in einer Musical Nebenrolle.

Also as Shakespeare actor he had many successes. He was in demand also in films. So he was seen in the film "Gallipoli" and in "Mad Max III", which also was on German television. A very important film was "My brilliant career" (in Germany under the title "Meine brilliante Karriere"). Robert was nominated even for the AFI Award as the best actor. Its first TV role was in the series "Sara Dane". It followed roles in like "The amorous dentist", "A Country Practice", "Learned friends", "Five mile creek", (here under "Australienexpress") and "Special Squad".

In the role as Dr. Geoff Standish into "The Flying Doctors" he came from the   town as a snob. Everyone laughed about his first and regarded him as a consider- able jumping Jack with his sports car. Nobody believed him that he would gain a foothold there in the bush capable. But everyone had been mistaken about him. He married nurse Kate Wellings (Lenore Smith) after long to and fro. Robert is still   in contact to many colleagues from the "Flying Docs". He also finds it wonderful, that it is still to see the series in the world everywhere. He has enjoyed it much to produce it and to be together with the colleagues.

Also after "The Flying Doctors" it went on for Robert Grubb. He played much theatre and partly also together with some old colleagues from the series. So he played into "Love Letters", "Summer  of the Aliens", "Lost in Yonkers", "Madam Butterfly", "Sanctuary", "A flea in here ear" and "Phantom of the Opera". Robert Grubb was also very successful with the musical "Sunset Boulevard" of Andrew Lloyd Webber and he joined in the opera "Cinderella". Of course he was seen in series again, too, for examples: "Blue Heelers", "G.P.", "Mercury", "Phar Lap", "Robbery under arm", "State Coroner", "Skin deep", "Us and them", "Tales of the South Seas", "Seachange", "Paradise Road" and one could admire him in the wonderful child series "High flyer". Robert is partly also engaged in advertising and makes synchronization.

He could be seen 1998 of the Peterson in "Rising Fish Prayer" and 1999 as Ian    in "Navigating". He played the Anthony in the television film "Waiting at Royal" and Mr. Emmett in the TV mini series "The Potato Factory" in 2000. Into "Mr. Edmund" one could hear and admire his excellent vocal part in the Sydney Opera House.

At her visits to Australia Renate had met Robert 1996, 1998, 2001. At  one visit to Australia Renate could experience Robert in the musical "Mamma Mia" and    of course meet him personally again, too. Robert played and sang the role of Harry Bright in this musical for some years. He simply is created for the stage. Renate also has told this to him and his eyes have shone. In that musical  one listens to the terrific music of ABBA.

Robert could be seen as Mr. Crackleton in 12 episodes of the series "The Dragon Chronicles" in the Australian TV from February until April 2002. He played Simon in the mini-series "After the deluge" in 2003. On August 7th, 2003 he did the role of Hippie Pop in the musical premiere in Melbourne "We will rock you". With this musical Robert was also on a great tour by Japan. But of course he is also further in the TV present. So 2004 as Dect. Senior Con. Micaelis into "The Brush-Off" and in "Stingers" as Dr. Frank Vellani in the episode "Total recall". Robert could be seen by Rebecca Gibney on his side on U.S. television in 2004 into "Salem's Lot" after Steven King. Together with his son Hayden he played 2007 in the short film "Black Button" and was the "Man behind the desk". In the same year he slipped in the double-role, like a ghost role. Very convincingly he did Salty Ben into " Pirate Islands: The lost treasure of Fiji". Percy Spender was Robert in the TV film "Curtin", Roger Gyles in the TV mini-series "Bastard  Boys". 2008 he played in "The Window" the father, had a guest role into "All Saints" there he played the patient Paul Murray. Robert had in the series "McLeod`s Daughters" a guest role too, those of the Tim Ayres.

His son Emerson also gets in his footprints well. He is singer in a radio & soul band. Robert also has started his career like that way.

In 2009 Robert was succesful as a singer in “The Musical”, “The boys friends” and again in “Mamma Mia”. In “Remembering Nigel” he was seen as himself.   “Of land and bounty” is a new film in which Robert suggest themselve as Brendan McCallum.

2011 Robert played a part in the Melbourne Theater production “Dons Party”.

In "The Weatherman" Robert plays the meteorologist Tony Turpinson, the approaching end of his twentyyear television career. In an effort to confront the growing pressure of the younger, more modern and funny weather colleagues, he brings himself into trouble and seen so many faux pas.

In May 2012 Robert was in the Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens) created musical fantasy world "Moonshadow" on stage. "Moonshadow" is a classic good-versus- evil story about the journey of a boy into manhood.

Furthermore, he stood for the TV series "Howzat! Kerry Packer's War" and  "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" on camera. Robert played 2012 in the stage-   play "Promises, Promises" the part of Dr. Dreyfuss.

Robert is 2013 also on the stage - in the play "Yes, Prime Minister" based on a BBC cult political satire. He plays the role of the manipulative secretary of the Prime Minister. In the TV series “Reef Doctors” Robert played for three episodes, the guest role of James McCage.

Since September 2013 Robert is in the play "A murder is announced" in Sydney on stage. He plays in the role of Inspector Craddock. In the TV-series “Reef Doctors" Robert was seen as James McCage.

2015 Robert was nominated for his role in the musical "Strictly Ballroom" for the Sydney Theatre Awards - in the category: Best performance by an actor in a supporting role musical.
