Gerard Kennedy wurde am 08. März 1932 in Perth geboren und verbrachte die meiste Zeit seiner Kindheit mit seinen Eltern, die auch im Show-Geschäft waren, in Sydney. Er hütet sein Privatleben, da es seine Sache ist. In seiner Freizeit ist er am liebsten auf seinem 15 m. langen Katamaran, reitet gerne und liest gerne
Science Fiction Bücher. Außerdem ist er Vegetarier und Pfeifenraucher.
Zunächst war Gerard Landschafts- und Reiseberichterstatter in Brisbane und später in Adelaide und Melbourne. Dann stieg er in die Schauspielerei ein.
Gerard ist gleichermaßen als Theater-, Film- und Fernsehschauspieler bekannt. Seine Karriere begann in Melbourne beim Fernsehen, wo er zuerst in Wahlwerbesendungen mitwirkte. Später erhielt er seine 1. Fernsehrolle in “Homicide” (1964). In den letzten Jahren ist er in Musicals wie “West Side Story” und
“Fiddler on the roof” (Anatevka) aufgetreten. Seit 1976 hat er eigentlich regelmäßig auch Filme und Fernsehfilme gedreht. In den Jahren bis 1992 war er in nicht weniger als 19 Filmen zu sehen. Gerard war von 1968 bis 1975 sehr
überzeugend in den Serien “Hunter” und “Division 4”. Er erhielt dafür 1970 und 1971 den “Gold Logie Award” als bester Schauspieler. 1976 folgten Rollen in “Tandarra”, “Power without glory”, “Case of the defence” und “Kings men”, sowie in “Moynihan”. Im Jahre 1977 hatte er Rollen in “Ned Kelly”, “Puzzle”,
“Bluey”, “Bellbird”, “Bailey`s Bird” und “Truckies”. In den Jahren darauf war Gerard sehr erfolgreich und spielte immer wieder in erfolgreichen Serien wie “Against the wind”, “Statewide 6”, “Locusts & Wild Honey”, “Skyways”, “The last outlaw”, “Bellamy”, “Carsons law”, “Cop Shop”, “Country Practice”,
“Special Squad”, “Five mile creek”, “Rattle of the golden pennies”, “Flight into hell”, “Prisoner”, “An electric day” und “Great expectations” 1988 spielte er dann zum ersten Mal in der Serie “Flying Doctors” mit. Er spielte
einen Kriegsveteranen, der als Held nach Coopers Crossing zurückkehrt und dort an Aids stirbt. Er war in dieser Rolle hervorragend. Aus diesem Grunde wurde er dann auch weiter verpflichtet und spielte bis 1991 die Rolle des Luke Mitchell.
Luke Mitchell kommt als Hufschmied nach Coopers Crossing und bleibt dann dort und soll auch den Pub übernehmen, als Vic sich dazu entschlossen hatte, ein anderes Leben zu führen. Es kam dann aber nicht dazu. Als Maggie Hutton mit ihrer Feundin eine Farm bewirtschaften will, soll Luke ihren Laden übernehmen.
Luke Mitchell ist ein Mann, der immer wieder selbstlos sein Leben auf`s Spiel setzt. Doch Gerard Kennedy ist schließlich aus der Serie ausgestiegen.

Gerard spielte 1989 auch zweimal als Gast in “Mission Impossible” mit. In den letzten Jahren hatte er Rollen in “Police Crop”, “The Elite”, “Acropolis now”, “A country practice”, “Embassy”, “Col N`Carpenter”, “Boys from the bush”,
“Ebbtide”, “Bligh”, “Frontline”. Dazu hat er auch in “Blue Heelers” und “The Inner Sanctuary” mitgewirkt. Nach 1994-1995 stand er erneut 1997 mit “West Side Story” auf der Theaterbühne. Dann wurde es einige Zeit still um Gerard Kennedy. 1999 wurde er für die Serie “Thunderstone” engagiert. Diese Serie
stammt aus der Feder der erfolgreichen Produzenten von “Ocean Girl”. In dieser Serie spielte auch Nikki Coghill mit. Leider spielte Gerard in “Thunderstone” den bösen Dr. Pretorius, einen Wolf im Schafspelz, der seine eigenen Machenschaften nicht überlebte. Weiter konnte man ihn in “Neighbours”, “Blue Heelers”, “The
saddle club”, “Beastmaster” und “Stingers” erleben. Zusammen mit Sydney Jackson hat er 2002 in dem US-Film “Blood Crime” als Kaiwanasha gespielt.
Und er trat inzwischen in der Show “The best of Aussie Cop Shows” als er selbst auf. Mit Robert Grubb zusammen spielte er in “The Brush-Off” und hatte eine Gastrolle in “All Saints” als Nevill West im September 2004. Im Mysteriefilm “Plains empty” war er 2005 in der Rolle des Old Fella zu sehen, sowie als Baxter
in “Scooter: Secret Agent” und in “Dramatically Black”. 2006 spielte er Trevor`s Boss in “Humun lie detector”. 2009 übernahm Gerard die Rolle des Graham Kinniburgh in “Underbelly”. In dem Erfolgsschlager “City Homicide” wirkte
2010 auch Gerard als Gaststar mit. In der Folge `Protection´ tritt er als Ralph Druitt auf. In “Hobby farm” ist er als Mr. Senti ebenfalls dabei.
Man weiß von ihm noch, dass er gerne Polizist, Lehrer oder Bootdesigner geworden wäre, wenn es mit der Schauspielerei nicht geklappt hätte.
2012 spielte Gerard in einigen Folgen der TV-Serie “Conspiracy 365” die Rolle des Bartholemew Ormond, sowie in dem Kurzfilm “Schnipples” den Harold.
2013 hatte Gerard ein Rolle in dem Kinofilm “Wolf Creek 2”. 2014 übernahm er die Rolle des Graham Kinniburgh in “Fat Tony & Co.”

Then he joined in in the series "Flying Doctor" in 1988 for the first time. He played a war veteran who returns to Coopers Crossing and dies there of AIDS as a hero.

He was excellent in this role. For this reason he was also further then engaged and played the role of Luke Mitchell to 1991. Luke Mitchell comes as a blacksmith to Coopers Crossing and then stayed there and shall take the pub
when Vic had decided to lead another life. Then it did not come to that, however.
When Maggie Hutton wants to manage a farm with her friend, Luke shall take her shop. But Luke Mitchell is a man, who selflessly sets his life again and again one game. Gerard Kennedy then has got out of the series, however.  Gerard joined in twice as a guest in "Mission Impossible" in 1989. He also had roles in "Policy Crop", "The Elite", "Acropolis now", "A country practice", "Embassy", "Col N' Carpenter", "Boys from the bush", "Ebbtide", "Bligh",
"Frontline" within the last few years. He has played a part to this also in "Blue Heelers" and "The Inner Sanctuary". He stood in 1997 in "West Side Story" on the theatre stage once more. It then became some time quietly around Gerard Kennedy. 1999 he was engaged for the series "Thunderstone". This series is from
the pen nib of the successful producers of `Ocean Girl´. In this series (“Thunderstone”)

Nikki Coghill also joined in. Unfortunately, Gerard played the bad Dr. Pretorius, a wolf in the sheepskin which, however, did not survive his own machinations in this series. We could see him in "Neighbours", "Blue Heelers",
"The Saddle Club", "Beastmaster and Stingers". Together with Sydney Jackson he has played 2002 in the U.S. film "Blood Crime" as Kaiwanasha. And he appeared himself in the show "The Best of Aussie Cop Shows". He joined in in
"The Brush Off" with Robert Grubb together and had a guest role in "All Saints" as Nevill West in September 2004. One still knows about him, that he would have enjoyed becoming an policeman, a teacher or boat designer if it had not worked with the acting.
2012 Gerard starred in several episodes of the TV series "Conspiracy 365" the role of Bartholemew Ormond, and in the short film "Schnipples" the Harold.
2013 Gerard had a role in the movie "Wolf Creek 2". 2014 he played the role of Graham Kinniburgh in "Fat Tony & Co.".
