David Nicholas Reyne wurde am 14. Mai 1959 in Nigeria geboren. Sein Schauspielstudium absolvierte er am Swinburne Institut in Victoria 1980. Während   seiner Studienzeit wirkte er schon in einigen Filmen mit. So in “Split”, “Zok”, “Breakdown” und “Experiment in Romance”. Ab 1981 folgten verschiedene Gast- rollen. 1983 spielte er Paul Harding in “Starting out”, den Grant Johnson in “Skin deep”. Für die Rolle des Martin Kabel im Rockdrama “Sweet and sour” erhielt er 1984 den Silver Logie als bester neuer Schauspieler. Er war bis heute auch bei den verschiedensten Preisverleihungen als Präsentator tätig. Er spielte Gastrollen in den Serien “Holiday Island”, “A Country Practice”, 1985 als Dect. Vince Bailey in “Possession”, 1986 in “Shark’s Paradise” stellte er sich als Rod Palmer vor.

1988 spielte er seine erste Rolle in der Serie “The Flying Doctors”. Es war in der Episode “All you need is love” (“Familiengeheimnisse”) und spielte Russ Evans. Im Oktober 1990 holte man ihn für die Rolle des Dr. Guy Reid und diese spielte er dann bis zum Ende der Serie. Sein erster Auftritt bei den “Fliegenden Ärzten” als Guy war in der Episode “Was für ein Mann”. In dieser Episode kamen zwei neue Gesichter in die Serie. Als Guy brachte er Schwester Jackie mit. Dr. Guy Reid ist arrogant und sehr von sich überzeugt, und es gab viel Streit mit ihm. Aber trotzdem war sein Unterhaltungsanteil in der Serie groß. Während der “Fliegenden Ärzte” arbeitete David 1990 auch an der Mini-Serie “Bony” als Geoff Hemmings, und er spielte in “Golden Fiddles” 1991 mit.

Nachdem die Serie “Die fliegenden Ärzte” zu Ende war, hat David hauptsächlich Live Shows im Fernsehen moderiert. So u. a. als Moderator im Reiseprogramm “Getaway" 1992  und 1996 - 2004. Für diese Serie machte er u. a. eine Eseltour ab Cairns, berichtete als Tourist über seine Heimatstadt Melbourne, besuchte Pompeji und berichtete aus dem Fremantle Auto-Museum. Es handelt sich um ein sehr be- liebtes Reiseprogramm. David unternimmt dafür auch Reisemessen und hat sehr  viel Kenntnisse über Australien. In “Midday” war er Gastgeber. Showmaster war  er in der Country Musiksendung namens “It’s country today”. Außerdem ging er mit Lenore Smith und dem Stück “Love Letters” auf Tournee. 1996 war er bei “Snowy River: The McGregor Saga” als Al Jackson mit dabei. 1997 stand “State Coroner” auf seinem Plan. Hier war er Brian Dale. Außerdem war David 2004 Moderator in der Dokumentarserie “You are what you eat”. In einer Home Video Show war er im April 2005 als er selbst in “Australia's Funniest” zu sehen. Er war von 2006 - 2009 Moderator in der Informationssendung “David & Kim”.

David hat auch eine große Musikkarriere gemacht, für die ihm heute allerdings  keine Zeit mehr bleibt. Er gründete 1979 als Schlagzeuger und Songschreiber die Band “Australian Crawl”. 1980 komponierte und sang er den Soundtrack zu “Split”, 1981 war er Drummer und Songschreiber von “Beats Working”, sowie 1982 von “Brave Men” und Drummer und Sänger in “I love my wife”. 1983 sang er im Chor von “Sweet and sour” mit, war 1984 Gastmoderator des Radioprogramms “Take 40 Australia” und 1985 Drummer und Songwriter bei “Cats under pressure”. In dem Jahr kamen auch die Singles “Let me be” und “On again off again” heraus. 1986 schreibt und nimmt er die Single “Stay”, für den Soundtrack von “Frenchman’s Farm”, auf und gründet in dem Jahr auch seine Band “The Chantoozies”. In den Jahren 1987 bis 1990 ist er mit dieser Band viel unterwegs und sie haben jede  Menge Hits bis auf Platz 4 der australischen Hitparade. Gleichzeitig geht er 1989 noch in die Band “Bitch Magnets”, für die er ab 1990 dann nur noch tätig ist. Seine Musikkarriere hört jedoch 1991 auf.

Nach seiner Heirat mit Karina Loscher 1994, wurde am 16. Oktober 1995 sein  Sohn Hunter geboren. Im Jahr 1999 wurde sein Glück vollkommen, seine Tochter Eva kam zur Welt. David treibt einigen Sport, um sich fit zu halten, surft und segelt gerne. Sein Bruder James ist in Australien ein bekannter und sehr berühmter Sänger.

Der ehemalige Flying Doctors Star David Reyne kehrte 2012 nach 20 Jahren für eine Gastrolle in „Neighbours“ wieder zur Schauspielerei in die Ramsay Street zurück. Er spielte einen cleveren Geschäftsmann, der einen Deal mit Ramsay   Street Hot Shot Andrew Robinson (Jordan Smith) viel zu gut macht, als wahr zu sein.

David gesteht, das er seine Rolle genoss - seine erste seit den frühen 90er Jahren, als er den Schürzenjäger Dr. Guy Reid in “The Flying Doctors” gespielt hat.

"Ich habe die Schauspielerei immer genossen und würde gerne mehr davon machen. Neighbours ist ein netter Ausflug in sie zurück ", sagt David.

Neben der Schauspielerei und Berichterstattung, u. a. die australische Version von “Celebrity Apprentice”, bereitet sich David auf eine DJ Rolle auf Smooth FM vor. “Es ist ein wenig anders und unerwartet”, fügt er hinzu. “Ich freue mich schon sehr darauf.”

He played his first role in the series "Flying Doctors" in 1988. He was in the episode "All you need is Love" ("Familiengeheimnisse") and played Russ Evan.    In October 1990 they fetched him then for the role of Dr. Guy Reid and played     him until the end of the series. His first appearance with the "Flying Doctors" as Guy was in the episode "What a Guy" ("Was für ein Mann"). In this episode two new faces came in the series. As Guy David brought along nurse Jackie. Dr. Guy Reid is arrogant and very much convinces of himself and it gave much quarrel    with him. But, his conversation share was nevertheless great in the series. David 1990 also worked on the mini-series "Bony" as Geoff Hemmings during the   "Flying Doctors" and he joined in in "Golden Fiddles" 1991.

After the series "Flying Doctors" was be finished, David has presented live shows on television chiefly. So as a presenter in the travel program "Getaway" 1992 and 1996 - 2004. For this series he made e.g. an donkey tour from Cairns, reported as a tourist about his hometown Melbourne, went to Pompeii and reported from the car museum in Fremantle. It is a travel program of great popularity. David also does journey fairs for this and has very much knowledge over Australia. He was host in "Midday". He was a compère in the country music programme named " It`s country today". In addition, he went on tour with Lenore Smith and the piece "Love Letters". He was in 1996 in "Snowy River: The McGregor Saga" as Al Jackson with at this. "State Coroner" stood on his plan in 1997. He was Brian Dale here. In addition, David was 2004 a presenter in the documentaries series "You are what you eat".  He was in one Home Video Show "Australia`s Funniest" to see in April 2005 as himself. In the information programme of "David & Kim" from 2006 - 2009 was David the presenter.

David also has made a great music career for which he has no more time till today. He founded 1979 as drummer and song writer the band "Australian Crawl". 1980  he composed and sang the soundtrack to "Split", he was drummer and song writers in 1981 of "Beat Working" as well as 1982 of "Brave Men" and drummer and  singer in "I love my wife". He sang 1983 in the choir of "Sweet and sour", was in 1984 guest presenter of the radio program "Take 40 Australia" and 1985 drummer and songwriter with "Cats under pressure". In this year the singles "Let me be" and "On again off again" also came out. 1986 he wrote and recorded the single "Stay" for the soundtrack of "Frenchman's farm" and also founded his band "The Chan- toozies" in the same year. Within the years 1987 to 1990 he was a lot away with  this band and every lot of hits he had till place 4 of the Australian charts. At the same time he still went 1989 into the band "Bitch magnet" for which he was then only active till of 1990. His music career stopped, however, in 1991.

After his marriage with Karina Loscher in 1994, was born his son Hunter on October 16th, 1995. In the year 1999 his luck got perfect, his daughter Eva was  born. David likes to surf and to sail to be fit. His brother James is a well-known  and very famous singer in Australia.

Former Flying Doctor star David Reyne returned to acting after 20 years for a guest role in „Neighbours“ on Ramsay Street. He played a shrewd businessman who makes a deal too good to be true with Ramsay Street hot shot Andrew Robinson (Jordan Smith).

David admits he relished the part – his first since the early ´90´s, when he played lothario Dr. Guy Reid in The Flying Doctors.

“I have always enjoyed acting and would love to do more of it. Neighbours is a nice foray back into it,” says David.

As well as pursing acting and narrating the Australian version of Celebrity Apprentice, David is preparing for a DJ role on Smooth FM, which is set to launch in two weeks. “It is something a little different and unexpected,” he adds. “I am really locking forward to it.”
